My "Hunter" is a Type 1 that has the peep sight mounted on the rear of the receiver cover. Took it to the range yesterday and decided to sight it in at 50 yards. There wasn't a trace of fouling in the gas-tube or barrel whatsoever.Īnyhow, I ordered some Silver Bear SP 7.62x39 ammo from an online dealer and picked up a couple Bulgarian 30 round mags from CDNN. When I got home with the one I bought, it was obvious it had never been fired once I detail stripped it. The gentleman I bought the rifle from was a dealer who had 4 of them that he had just purchased from an estate. They were marketed as a "hunting" rifle during the assault weapons ban of the early 90's. Basically the hunter is a "sleeper" AK if you will. So, I settled for the Hunter (also has a milled receiver and chrome lined barrel). However, prices for the Legend models are too high. I had been wanting a Norinco/Polytech AK "Legend" for a while due to the fact that they have milled receivers and chrome-lined barrels. So I picked up a Polytech "Hunter" at the last gun show in Fort Worth.
